THE eighth annual cream tea afternoon at Prings Farm, Madford, Hemyock, was a great success.
The weather was tremendous for this quintessentially English affair and with tea served in vintage china, scones generously loaded with cream and jam, and delicious cakes it made for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
The tables were laid, the marquees and bunting were up, the pianist played throughout, the plant and cake stalls were beautifully presented and the raffle tickets sold aplenty.
The afternoon culminated with an auction of donations ranging from fishing tickets, food hampers, LandRover experience vouchers, a bird box, magnificent cakes and much more, all given by local businesses, friends and supporters.
This truly is a community event with so many wonderful people offering practical help – both on the day and before – donations and time to make this experience the success it is.
Hundreds of people came from far and wide to support the event, sampling the tea cakes and soaking up the atmosphere.
The event raised a massive £3,762.60 for cancer charities.
