CRIME in Wellington fell by almost a fifth during May, going down from 64 incidents to 53, it was reported at the June meeting of Wellington Town Council when a warning was given about the ongoing theft of credit cards from the elderly in the town.
Councillors were told that shortly after the theft of a credit card it had been used in Cheltenham.
Three positive drug raids had taken place in the town centre with three offenders being dealt with for possession and intent to supply cannabis.
It was reported that anti-social behaviour offences had gone down from 30 to just four, theft offences had dropped by six to eight, assault offences down by four to ten, domestic offences down by two to six, criminal damage down by two to five and public order offences down by one to three. The only increase had been harassment offences which rose by one to five.
