The lockdown imposed because of the coronavirus pandemic is being eased and now Wellington Croquet Club is looking to attract new members.

The club is in Oake, on the edge of the golf course, next to the village church. It has three club afternoons but games can be arranged between members any day of the week. Members play Association Croquet, Golf Croquet, One Ball and other variations of the game.

Secretary Anne Woodford said: “Croquet offers gentle exercise in a social environment and we are fortunate that the excellent maintenance of our lawns allows us to play all year round.

“No previous knowledge of croquet is required as members will be happy to explain the basic elements of the game.”
