WELLINGTON Dementia Action Alliance (DAA) has helped put together a series of activities and events for National Dementia Awareness Week, which starts on Monday.

The campaign, an Alzheimer’s Society initiative, aims to unite communities to better understand and raise awareness of dementia.

The DAA is encouraging everyone in the town to be part of the six days of events, whether they attend one of the Dementia Friends sessions, the Roadshow at the Baptist Church with more than 20 exhibitors or the specially arranged walks.

Petanque is on offer at the leisure centre, Nostalgic Cinema at the Wellesley and a Big Community Concert for Dementia at Wellington School.
