CCTV cameras could soon be in place to catch irresponsible dog owners on a Wellington town estate.

Chrissie and Steve Disney, who live in Churchfields, say they are trying to catch the culprits.

Chrissie, who comes from London, said: “I’ve never known anything quite like it. It’s a regular occurrence. It is on-going – it’s everywhere.

“Dog poo is dangerous for children. If they were to fall in it and had a graze – it’s horrific even to think about.

“And you can see from the picture it is not small dogs – this pile of poo was close to our house”
