A WELLINGTON woman has still not fully recovered from a dog attack by a Rottweiler two months ago.
Dorothy Lindfield, 63, was walking her tiny Bichon Frise cross West Highland terrier around Tonedale Mill when they were set upon.
It happened when she was taking three-year-old Teddy for a Saturday afternoon stroll.
The Rottweiler bit into Teddy’s leg and almost tore off one of its testicles and, when Dorothy lifted Teddy above her head, the Rottweiler jumped and bit both her hands.
Dorothy’s husband Barry said yesterday: “It took a few weeks for Teddy to recover and it cost us more than £500 in vet bills. For a while afterwards he would not go near the field and wouldn’t go outside the house he was so traumatised.
“But Dorothy has still not got over it psychologically. She will not go to the field where they were attacked on her own.
“She has to wait for me to accompany her. Some of the dogs we see over there are very friendly but you never know after this. It affects you.”
The couple, who live at Weavers Reach, were visited by the police ‘a few times’.
Mr Lindfield added: “We’re seeking compensation from the small claims court. So far we have heard nothing. We are waiting for the other party. What if it had happened to a child walking a dog. It could have been a very sad story.”
