THE community Skintight Samba Group has been supported by Wellington Town Council with a grant for £500 – as long as it comes and performs ahead of the town’s carnival.
Members of Wellington Town Council met last week and agreed to award the drumming group the grant towards the overall £750 cost for the repair and replacement of instruments.
The Samba group performs around the area and practice sessions are held in Wellington.
Cllr Vivienne Stock-Williams said the last time the council awarded the group a grant – in 2017 – it was on the proviso it performed at the carnival. “We should award the grant but ask that they are a warm-up act before the carnival once again,” she added.
