ARTISTS are opening up their studios as part of a county-wide project to showcase art and its creators.

From September 13 to 28, 153 venues will open for open studios throughout Somerset.

In the Wellington area there are five studios set to open including The McCormack Art Club in The Bothy, which will feature the work of eight artists including Jo Greenshields, June Holmes, and Jennie Sleep, with a range of paintings in oil, acrylics, mixed media and pastels, prints, ceramics, and sculpture.

Diane Goring will be showing her work at @ Studio22 at 61 Pear Tree Way, at Cades Farm. Goring’s work explores her social conscience and her passion for a fair and just society through mediums such as charcoal, watercolours, and oil.

Sally Hebeler and Nicky Saunter will be displaying a selection of paintings, prints, poems, illustrations, and photographs “from life as they see it” at 12 Immenstadt Drive, Wellington.

The Old Brick Workshop at Higher Poole will host an exhibition to showcase the work of thirteen differing artists, while The Orangery at Nynehead Court will host three artists Catherine Hounsell, Lisa Takahashi, and Lucy Rogers for a selection of textiles, lino cuts, and wood engravings.

Further afield, Michael Tarr and Philip Dudman will be opening their Dudman Studio in Blagdon Hill for figurative paintings; Tilly Willis and Tom Wood will be showing a range of portraits, landscapes, and garden sculpture at Bicknells in Wiveliscombe; and at Little Hurstone, in Waterrow, Jane Mowat will be exhibiting her carving and printmaking work.
