ONE-TIME Monument Close, Wellington, resident Barbara Bedford, who is now 95 and lives in Penrith, sent in this poem, ‘Lockdown and Me’.

Lockdown and me, we drink too much tea

Eat biscuits we don’t even like

We’re out of condition, we’ll go for walk

But I wish I could still ride my bike

If someone comes near, we’ll cross over the road

And give them a friendly nod

It’s good to be out, and nobody cares

If our walk turns into a plod

‘Oh you’ve got a new style,’ they say with a smile

As they look at my fast-growing locks

‘Well it’s now all the rage for a girl of my age

And my grandchildren tell me it ROCKS’

But Lockdown and me, can always feel free

In a garden, where flowers always bloom

Which one day, we’ll share, with people who care

And when sunshine will banish the gloom
