WIVELISCOMBE Flower Show at Kingsmead School on Saturday was held in good weather and attracted more than 800 exhibits – slightly down on last year.

“It has been a slightly difficult year for growing because of the cold nights,” said chairman Adrian Somerfield.

“However, the judges were impressed with the standard of exhibits.”

One of the features of the show each year is music from Wiveliscombe Silver Band.

“They were splendid again,” added the chairman.

A classic car show ran alongside the main event and Robert Burston, of Classic Motors between Milverton and Wiveliscombe, entered a

white 2001 Jaguar painted with roses in the flower show.
