COURT Fields School in Wellington has raised hundreds of pounds for people living thousands of miles away through a Christmas fair.

The event coined in more than £2,500 for school charity The Madagascar Development Fund, which will go towards its next project.

Court Fields has raised more than £30,000 for the charity which has paid for three water projects and a school which it was able to extend, and this year it has helped rebuild a pre-school.

A spokesperson for the school said: “We can truly be very proud of the difference we have all made to the harsh daily lives of the people in these villages in Madagascar.”

They also thanked all the stallholders, staff, parents and students who made the fair possible. It is hoped to make the fair an annual event.
