FORMER Wellington sportsman Danny Jones, who emigrated to Australia 14 years ago, has been back in the town with his family for a short stay.

Danny, now 47, made the trip over to this country to celebrate his dad’s (Pat) 70th birthday at the local football club last Sunday.

With him was his wife Jemma and children Tommy, 11, and Tilly, 9. Danny, who went to Linden, Beech Grove and Court

Fields Schools, now lives in Perth.

He said last weekend: “We could only come over for a week because my wife is a teacher - its a whistle-stop visit.

“It’s been great to meet up with all the family again and to see some old friends. It was also lovely to be at dad’s birthday

party.”

Danny, a pharmaceutical manager, who flew back home on Wednesday.

As a youngster in Wellington Danny played football, rugby and cricket for teams in Wellington and Taunton.

In Perth he is vice-president of Murdoch University Football Club.
