STAFF and customers at Rumwell Farm Shop & Cafe have raised £2,230 for a local charity which aims to reduce violence through education.

Farm shop joint owner Anne Mitchell said the money was raised for Taunton-based Stand Against Violence (SAV) throughout 2018.

She added: “SAV works prominently with young people to prevent violence. The charity delivers violence prevention workshops and talks to education establishments, businesses and the community. The workshops and talks focus on personal safety, anger and aggression, basic life support and the awareness of choices and consequences.

“The money was raised in a number of ways from collection tins at our till areas and two charity quiz and supper evenings, which raised £945. We also donated 10p from each pack of jelly beans and four pack of rock cakes sold to SAV.

“We would like to thank all our staff and customers for helping us raise this incredible amount of money for this charity during the past year.”

SAV was set up in 2005 following the murder of 17-year-old Lloyd Fouracre in Taunton. SAV aims to prevent violence, its long-term consequences and the grief of losing loved ones.

The workshops it delivers equip and inform students in an effective manner how to Stand Against Violence.

Adam Fouracre, chief executive at Stand Against Violence, said: “The money will help us to continue to deliver anti-violence workshops, self-defence and vital first aid lessons to young people across England and Wales.
