DESIGNER fashion shop Mad Dog in South Street, Wellington, is closing its doors for the last time on Saturday.

Proprietor Sally Hooper announced in late January she would be closing the shop after ten years of trading.

“Obviously, Saturday is going to be a very strange and sad day,” said Sally yesterday. “I want to thank all my customers, some of whom have become friends.

“I don’t know yet what I am going to do. I plan to take a couple of months off and then decide. I certainly won’t be doing nothing, I’m not that kind of person.

“We have had interest in the shop but nothing definite. Brexit is creating a lot of uncertainly and people are afraid to commit themselves because they don’t know what is going to happen.”

Sally plans to close the shop at 4.30pm on Saturday and expects people wanting to come in at the last minute.

She added: “As the day approaches it certainly hits you – it tugs at the heart strings.”
