POLICE have stepped up their search for a missing Wellington businessman amid growing fears for his safety.

David Cooper, 53, of Fore Street in the town, has not been seen for for two weeks.

A spokesman said: "Mr Cooper was last seen following a party on Monday, January 14, but was not reported missing until Tuesday, January 29."

He said police and Mr Cooper's family were now growing concerned for his welfare.

He added: "Mr Cooper may be in the North Devon area as he has a business in Sidwell Street, Exeter, and is known to have links with Cullompton."
