A YOUNG fencing star from Wellington is competing in an international tournament in Malaysia - thanks to funding from the Team Somerset 500 Club, a partnership led by Somerset County Council.

Nat Lewis is one of the lucky local Olympic hopefuls to be sponsored by the Club.

The reigning Under 18 British champion and trainee coach for the Taunton Deane Blades Fencing Club, has travelled to Malaysia to compete in team and individual events at the Under 20 Fencing Commonwealth Games.

Nat received a cheque for £1,000 from the Somerset County Cricket Club who are one of the many organisations to have joined the Team Somerset 500 Club. Grants from the Taunton Town Charity and Richard Huish College have also assisted with his travel and equipment costs.
