Since the first lockdown, Wellington resident Sue Carson has been keeping herself busy knitting multi-coloured fiddle muffs.
As well as keeping hands warm and busy, the muffs stimulate the senses of sight and touch.
Sue, a member of Wellington Methodist Church, has now completed her 100th muff, but has no intention of stopping yet.
“We have given them to nearly every care home in Wellington and Taunton,” said Sue, who teams up with a friend to go out on delivery runs.

Good tidings for local firms as they are shortlisted in Somerset Business Awards 2026If any local home has not received muffs and would like them, or if anyone would like them for a friend or relative, please get in touch.
The muffs are free but Sue relies on donations of wool, and is very grateful to the charity shops and individuals who have supplied it.
Anyone who has any spare wool, of any colour or texture which they could pass on to Sue, is asked to contact Helena Power on 07914 562101.
