PROGRESS continues to be made on plans for a film festival to be held in Wellington.

The film festival is one of the ideas being actively discussed by the Wellington Town Centre Working Group in a bid to make the town a ‘destination’ for people to visit.

A report which went before Wellington Town Council said there was ‘considerable enthusiasm for the event and a number of individuals willing to help’.

“It was agreed that the first year for this event should not be over ambitious, but it was hoped to include one outdoor event in the autumn,” added the report. “There was also the possibility of linked activities such as fancy-dress linked to film themes.”
