PLANS to hold a film festival in Wellington are moving forward – although it is not likely to happen until the early part of 2020.

Members of the Wellington Town Centre Working Group – which is led by the town council – have been actively looking into the prospect of holding a movie festival for several months.

Cllr Mark Lithgow told this month’s town council meeting it would be a ‘small scale’ festival.

“We are looking at holding the festival in the first half of 2020,” he said. “We have had universal support for the festival. Apart from ironing out the details, we’ve had no adverse comments.”

It is expected that the festival will cost £8,000 to finance but some of this money will be recouped through ticket sales.
