TRACEY Walters came to the rescue of an elderly man who fell ill in Cafe Licious in South Street, Wellington, on Friday morning.

“The man was obviously in distress and I checked his responses and put him in the recovery position until an ambulance arrived,” she said.

Tracey, who is in her 30s and was visiting the cafe with a friend, said she only did what any first aider would have done.

She added: “I’m surprised more people do not learn first aid. It can be a life-saver.

“If you don’t want to go on a course you can go on-line. The St John Ambulance is a good site.”

Tracey lives at Burrough Way, Wellington.
