CROWDS packed Wellington on Saturday as the Wellington Food Town fair kicked off the town's Festival Fortnight in tasty style.

Queues of visitors snaked back from food stalls lining High Street selling locally produced food and drink.

The event has been hailed as a fantastic success by civic leaders.

Congratulating the Wellington Food Town committee, which organised the event, Wellington Mayoress, Jackie Govier told the WWN: "It was a fantastic day."
