AMBITIOUS Wellington Football Club is looking to move to a new ground within the next five years.
Chairman Mike Hall confirmed this when he spoke to members, players and guests at the club’s annual presentation night at the Beambridge Inn.
He told me: “The preferred site is by the relief road leading to Ford Street.
“We have got through to the initial planning stage. We have also looked at sites near Court Fields School and behind the medical centre.
“The plan is for three full-size pitches and two smaller pitches. We run 28 teams and we need to find more pitches for them in the town. We would also need changing rooms there.
“There would eventually be a clubhouse on the main pitch and we would look to grants to pay for this. This is our target and this is something I’m very keen to see with a move within five years.
“But, of course, this all takes time –but we are getting there.”
