MORE than 150 people enjoyed games, activities and visiting attractions at the Howard Road Fun Day in Wellington.

Churches Together in Wellington has run the event for six years with help from Wellington Street Pastors, and sponsored by Wellington Town Council and Taunton Deane Tenants’ Association.

The Red Arrow Majorettes opened proceedings with a 30-minute display.

The event also featured a barbecue, face painting, wet sponge throwing, cake stall and bouncy castles, plus other games and activities.

Wellington Mayor and Mayoress Gary James and his wife Bee attended the event, which had been cancelled last year because of heavy rain.

10 Radio was also there with its outside broadcast van, providing music, a roving microphone and fun for all.

Wellington firefighters attended with a fire engine, giving children a chance to see what kit they had and look inside the cabin. Steve Hill, the local Police Community Support Officer, also went along.

Towards the end of the afternoon, Wellington Majorettes gave a 30-minute display, the event ending with a water fight involving the children and some of the adults, too.
