CLLR William Brown called for enforcement action to be taken against the owners of Blackdown Garden Centre near Chelston for not providing a right turning lane into the centre at the May meeting of Wellington Town Council.

He said it was a dangerous road and there had been five near misses the previous week.

Cllr John Thorne supported him, pointing out that the right turn was part of the original planning application in 2007. “They have done absolutely nothing about it,” he said. “They keep getting away with it. It is beyond a joke. It is a fast road.”

The town council decided to inform Taunton Deane Borough Council that it was against a planning application to extend the time allowed for the work to be carried out and to recommend the Deane to take enforcement action.

The Deane will make the final decision.
