A WELLINGTON woman has given £800 to the South West Deer Rescue Centre, near Crewkerne.

Tracey Ronson, 43, who lives at Priory, raised the money by making reindeer out of wood and selling them at her workplace – Blackdown Garden Centre at Chelston.

Tracey said: “The deer rescue centre is run by Mike Gauge. It’s totally funded by charitable donations and the work that goes into this amazing place is immeasurable. Mike works tirelessly to look after these magnificent animals every day of the year.

“He has about 150 deer of all different shapes, sizes and ages. I took it upon myself to send Mike and the deer four large sacks of carrots each month.

“As it was December I thought I’d make reindeer out of wood to sell at the garden centre. All the money raised went straight to the rescue. I was overwhelmed by the amount of interest shown. I managed to raise a staggering £800.”
