MORE than £1,000 was raised from a garden fete held at the Old Vicarage at Rockwell Green.

The money will be split between All Saints Church and Surfers Against Sewage, a group which wants to reduce plastic waste in the Earth’s seas.

The sun shone for the event, and despite the main approach road to the venue being closed, about 200 people attended and at least 60 lunches were served. Lots of people enjoyed ringing the church bells.

Organisers said they would like to thank all the local traders who supported the fete by giving raffle prizes and lending event equipment.
