BOTH fire engines from Wellington, along with special appliances from Taunton and Wiveliscombe, were scrambled to Swallowfield's Station Road, Wellington factory site yesterday afternoon following reports of a gas leak.

The emergency call came at 2.57pm. On arrival crews found there had been a spillage of Icopentane, described as an extremely volatile and extremely flammable liquid at room temperature and pressure.

A fire brigade spokesman said the spillage was contained, and that advice had been given to on-site staff.
