Great British athlete and gymnast Isabel Haigh visited Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington before schools were closed because of the coronavirus emergency.
Sports for Schools instructors were invited to go in for a sponsored workout session with every child in the school.
A spokesperson for the school said: “It was a tremendous effort from all the children – everyone showed resilience and perseverance throughout the sessions and listened intently during the demonstrations.
“The coaches commented that our school was the best they had visited in terms of determination and showing respect – and they have visited more than 100 schools!”
The spokesperson added: “We would like to say a massive thank you to all the parents and staff for their support in creating such a fantastic and memorable day for the children and raising lots of money.
“It was great to see everyone dressed in sporting gear and taking real pride in challenging themselves with the workout.
“I hope your children were inspired by the visit and continue to pursue sporting activities in and out of school.”
