Genesis, Wellington Arts Association’s youth theatre group, is looking for new members with sessions set to re-start at the Arts Centre, Eight Acre Lane.

The group has a new committee led by Rob Spurway following an extraordinary general meeting called as most previous committee members had moved away to pursue other interests or because their circumstances had changed owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The youth theatre group is for children in school years 7 to 11 who have fun learning all aspects of theatre – stagecraft, singing, characterisation, how to make and use props, understanding and using sound and lighting effects, script writing, choreography, costume design, slap-stick and more.

They will perform a Christmas cabaret in December this year and a summer show in 2022.

The arts association is a non-profit community organisation run by people with many years in the theatre environment, both onstage and behind the scenes. Sessions re-commence on Wednesday, October 6, and run from 7-9pm.
