GRANDMOTHER Beryl Farrow’s trip to London led to a surprise encounter with a former Wellington School student.
Beryl, who lives at The Paddocks in Wellington, went to the capital with her daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Lee Lawrenson.
They travelled to London to attend Beryl’s grand-daughter’s, Daisy Tipping’s graduation ceremony – Daisy had achieved a First Class degree in French.
Mary and Lee, who live at Dobree Park, Rockwell Green, teach at Wellington School and Daisy attended the school.
The family visited Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, and at the gates were offered a free ride in a buggy.
The driver asked where the party were from and after they told him he said he had attended Wellington School in the 1960s.
He said his name was David Llewelyn Jones and that his father had been the vicar in Hemyock.
Mrs Farrow said : “He was intrigued our house was built on the tennis court where he had played as a youth.”
