CHILDREN showed ingenuity and enthusiasm in Wellington in Bloom (WiB) Pre-Schools competition, say secretaries Cherry Hitchcock and Jenny Vickery.

The pre-schools were asked to choose their own theme and seven groups chose recycling. Many types of containers were used and garden flowers, wild flowers, vegetables and herbs were grown from seed and were all excellent quality.

WiB provided scrapbooks so that a record of all stages of the work could be kept up to the final entry. It is hoped the scrapbooks will be on display in Wellington Library from mid-September together with a photograph of the entries.

WIB used the Royal Horticultural Society method of grading entries gold, silver gilt and silver. The results were: gold award – Blackdown Day Nursery, Nynehead Under-5s Pre-School and Forest School; silver gilt award – Little Explorers group from Wellington Children’s Centre, Oakfield Day Nursery, Rockets Pre-School; silver award – Bouncy Bear Childcare, Beech Grove, Bouncy Bear Childcare, Brendon Road.
