THESE two photos of the skate park in Wellington were taken by a reader on Sunday morning.

One shows the damage done to the fencing and the other shows the litter that youngsters leave behind despite the fact the council has placed a second waste bin in the skate park.

The reader, who does not want to be named, said: “It is disturbing to note that the empty cans were Stella Artois. Do we have under age drinkers! It begs the question – why should local authorities provide facilities for the youth of today when they treat the facilities with such disdain.

“Young people are always complaining they have nothing to do – we never had skate parks. We got off our backsides and did sports etc. We did not sit around with mobile phones surgically attached to our bodies.

“I am just a grumpy old man who gets fed up with people who just want, want, want and then ruin what they are provided with.”
