POLICE will be pressing home the message that Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night are supposed to be fun events.
Each year it is feared that these traditional events could become plagued with anti-social behaviour with inappropriate ‘trick or treating’ and irresponsible lighting of fireworks.
PCSO Steve Hill said: “We will be handing out leaflets to shops about not selling eggs, flour or fireworks in the run-up to Hallowe’en and Bonfire Night in November for Under-18s.
“We also have a supply of ‘Sorry, No Trick or Treaters’ posters at the enquiry office at Wellington Police Station.”
The station is open from 10am-4pm Monday and Tuesday and on Thursday and Friday.
There will also be posters at the WWN office and Wellington Library if anyone would like one.
Police will be attending schools to remind children about safety and behaviour at Hallowe’en.
