ALEX Hart played a fantastic two-hour solo at The Ostler Inn in Uffculme – the talented singer, originally from Ashill, but now living in Plymouth, always draws an appreciative audience.

As a self-confessed fan of Alex’s album ‘On This Day’ I was delighted to hear her perform many of her numbers from it including ‘Run’, ‘Orange Van’, ‘Bad Boy Bill’, ‘Onside’ and ‘I Was Only 17’. And, to my mind, her version of Doris Day’s ‘Everybody Loves a Lover’ is every bit as good, if not better, than the original.

I overheard many commenting on her quality and it was of little surprise that she sold out of her stock of CDs on the night, with some going away disappointed at missing out. But don’t just think that Alex has a great voice – she’s a very accomplished guitarist, too.

Whether solo, as she was here, or accompanied by her quality band, I would urge any keen music-goers to check out one of her live performances as soon as possible. Her latest gig list can be found on her website alexhart.com or the @alexhartmusic Facebook page.

It has been over ten years since she last performed at The Ostler Inn. Please don’t leave it this long again Alex!
