PUPILS at Rockwell Green Primary School enjoyed a special morning at All Saints’ Church exploring aspects of Harvest.
A spokesperson for the school said: “They found out that as well as being grateful for food from our gardens and fields, we harvest from the sea, from trees, from animals and from the earth itself.
“Members of churches in Wellington helped the children think about this through handling fleece and sheepskin, grains, shells, fruit and vegetables, and different woods.
“They had fun tasting breads, making a leaf rubbing, an origami boat and a clay pot to take home, planting bulbs in tubs for school, and each child wove a coloured strand into one large piece, remembering how everyone is valued in the school.”
The activities were linked to the values of peace, humility, respect, generosity, patience and joy, and to the Easter Experience which the children took part in earlier in the year.
School chaplain Helena Power said: “It was wonderful to be able to welcome all the children in the school and to give them a morning that was both enriching and fun. We all enjoyed it very much.”
