HEADTEACHER Rachael Bennett has interviewed and recruited Court Fields School’s head boy, head girl and deputies for 2016-17 from a field of Year 10 students.

She said: “I am delighted to announce that Chris Coupe and Abi Lockyer are our new head boy and head girl with Aaron Filler and Bronwyn Cheshire as our deputies.

“The quality of candidates was outstanding and I congratulate all seven students who got to the final interview stage of the process.

“I am thoroughly looking forward to working with such a great team of students to continue to provide the best education and school experience for all of our students.”

Court Fields recruits Prefects annually from Year 10 going into their final year. This year 40 students have put themselves forward to be a Prefect promoting the school’s ethos and values and being role models to the rest of the school.

Prefects have duties to perform such as break duty, careers guidance, mentoring younger students, supporting the Learning Support Department and engaging with parents at events and parent’s evenings.

All Prefects are trained so that they are confident in their role and clear about the expectations. From this training day seven head prefects are chosen to lead a team and from those seven the new head boy/girl and deputies are recruited.

Ms Bennett added: “The recruitment process is very robust. We deliver the same standard of interview as we would if we were recruiting staff, so it is very demanding.

“The students were incredibly articulate and mature, and had great ideas of how to develop different aspects of school life.”
