Students at Wellington School met for the first time since Covid-19 restrictions were imposed in March when they celebrated – at a social distance – their GCSE results last week.

Headmaster Eugene du Toit said: “We are proud of the achievements of our Year 11 students and commend them on their resilience during the summer term. They have faced remarkable challenges and shown great courage and tenacity while doing so – their conduct has been exemplary.
“As well as congratulating the pupils for their efforts, I am very grateful to my staff, across all departments, for their dedication during this uncertain time. The support that staff give throughout the year is immeasurable – not only in the classroom but also in the pastoral and co-curricular aspects of school life.
“I would also like to thank our parents whose support and encouragement during the past five months has been superb.”
School staff have been preparing for a full return to lessons on Thursday, September 3.
