THE Wellesley Hospital at Westpark 26, Chelston, has been rated ‘good’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The 75-bed hospital (pictured) was built at a cost of £20 million and opened in May 2017. It is owned by Elysium Healthcare and caters for men and women with mental health problems.
A spokesperson for the hospital said: “We put the health and well-being of our staff and those we care at the heart of everything we do and are delighted the CQC recognises the quality and care we provide.”
The CQC said, among other points, that the hospital managed patient incidents well.
An £8 million extension to the hospital is set to be completed in mid-November.
The new building, which is not expected to be fully operational until well into the New Year, is being erected by Montpellier Estates, the same developer which built the main hospital.
The new care and treatment facility will have 30 bedrooms and is being built on 1.2 acres of land next to the present hospital and behind Budgen’s convenience store and petrol filling station.
It will be a secure mental healthcare facility creating 45 full-time equivalent jobs on top of the 200-plus jobs at the main hospital.
