A local housebuilder has donated £300 to the Wellington Carers Support Group.

Linden Homes supports many community initiatives near its developments and is creating homes locally at Monument View.

Wellington Carers Support Group, which is celebrating its eighth anniversary this August, meets on the first Monday of the month at Bulford Community Centre in Wellington.

The group provides local carers with an opportunity to meet others in a similar situation for mutual support, a cup of tea and a chat. Various speakers also attend the sessions to talk about a range of subjects – from local policing, first aid, mindfulness, CSE energy bill saving, Christmas musical entertainment and more.

Leader, Terry Hodson said: “Wellington Carers Support Group meets monthly and is available for unpaid carers who care for a relative, neighbour or friend. The group gives them some time away from the ones they care for and enables them to meet other carers. We are very grateful for the donation as it means we can provide the carers with a thank you present, like a meal out.”

Sales and marketing director, Emma Smith said: “We wanted to help the local community in Wellington. Carers often work tirelessly supporting others but it’s important to acknowledge their contribution and to ensure they receive some respite too as caring for a loved one is often a 24/7 job that’s unpaid and can feel isolating. We’re pleased to make this donation, the carers do an incredible job in the local community.”

Located off Exeter Road in Rockwell Green, Linden Homes is creating new homes at Monument View.
