A HOMELESS man regularly seen in Wellington, who has been spending time in a bed and breakfast pub thanks to people’s generosity, may soon be able to throw away his tent.
Paul, who does not want his surname mentioned, sells copies of The Big Issue outside the Co-op store in Fore Street, Wellington.
After a day’s shift he goes ‘home’ to a sleeping bag in a tent.
It prompted Wellington resident Charlotte Jones to launch a fundraising appeal to provide him with shelter in bed and breakfast accommodation for a single night following snow on Friday – and her page online raised £700, enough to provide him with many nights in accommodation.
“I was so shocked when I saw that the donations had reached £700 considering the target was only £35 for one night under shelter and a cooked breakfast,” she said.
Now Miss Jones is now looking into options for using the remaining money to help Paul, including buying him a van or caravanette.
But he could be back living in his tent this week.
