STALWARTS of Wellington Hospital League of Friends Roy and Mary Hutchings have decided to retire from the group after 30 years’ service.

The couple have dedicated a huge amount of time to the league, taking a very active role in fundraising and the administration of funds. They have each held positions as officers, Mary as secretary and Roy as treasurer.

A fond farewell was paid to the couple at the group’s annual meeting. Mary said how much she and Roy had enjoyed their time at the league and how their involvement had brought about so many friendships.

They assured fellow trustees that although they were standing down from formal membership of the league they would continue to remain interested and supportive of its work.

Chairman Hilda Thornton paid tribute to the couple’s tremendous work and on behalf of fellow trustees thanked them and presented them with a small gift.
