POLICE in Wellington have been highlighting a scheme that provides home security for victims of crime and vulnerable members of the community.
PCSOs Steve Hill and Louise Fyne set up in the High Street with the Be Home Safe van and spoke with passers-by.
The free referral service, which has replaced the former Bobby Van, is available to people aged over 65, victims of hate crime, burglary or fraud and victims of domestic, sexual or racial violence, and any vulnerable member of the community.
Anyone who fits the criteria has to contact their local PCSO or PC to see if they can arrange a visit by the Be Home Safe scheme.
Items such as door and window locks, door chains and viewers can be fitted, and advice offered on security improvements.
The van was also visiting Wiveliscombe, Minehead and Porlock to spread the message last Wednesday.
