KNITTING wools produced in a charity fundraising project based at a smallholding at Greenham are now being sold at a shop in Wellington.
The new range of wools from Meadow Farm Wool Project, run by Annie Musgrove and Jane Allberry, is now available at Heidi’s Sewing Room in North Street, as well as on the project’s website.
Heidi Jenkinson, who runs the shop, is enthusiastic about the fundraising project which uses wool from Jacob sheep from the smallholding.
Keen knitter Jane persuaded Annie to process the sheep’s fleeces rather than let them go to waste and a small, traditional Yorkshire mill spins them into knitting wool in natural shades.
Jane and Annie are keen to develop a sustainable fundraising project from which both the customer and good causes win – all the project’s profits go to the brain injury charity Headway and the Teenage Cancer Trust, which have supported Annie’s and Jane’s youngest sons.
Annie said: “We are delighted there has been such a positive interest in the project and we are now able to offer the wool locally in Heidi’s Sewing Room, as well as through our website.
“There is a huge interest from people wanting to trace their wool from field to jumper.”
