THE John Walker Band is aiming to continue its support for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment fund – better known as the SURE appeal – with its annual charity concerts Musique Folklorique at Wellington Arts Centre.

The band continues to support charities close to its heart and John Walker is looking forward to performing the two concerts at the arts centre on Saturday, July 28.

“In June I was invited to the opening of the installation of the new CT scanner at the Beacon Centre valued at £566,605,” he said. “The money SURE raised covered the value of the scanner, the maintenance and all the other bespoke equipment such as computer screens and storage facilities.”

The band will be performing some of its favourite folk-rock songs and is happy to have the musical support of bass man Kevin Coughlin and the dulcet tones of Dilly Croxall – and introduce the amazing skills of David White on flute.

The band has been together for 12 years and the annual charity concerts continue to rely on the kindness of the local public who support the event.

Funds have already been boosted by the Friends of Ivy House, which has given £101 towards this cause.

Tickets for the matinee show at 2.30pm and the evening show at 7.30pm are available on the door or by calling 01823-667112. Seating is cabaret style.
