JADE Clarke, of Wellington Swords, was second in the Under 12 class at the British Youth Foil Championships at RAF Cosford. More than 400 fencers took part.

Jade won her way through nine fights to meet the top seed Lydia Stanier (Southern) in the final.

Stanier, another left-hander, was simply more experienced and powerful.

Amazingly, this was only Jade's third competition.
