MODERN rock band Last One Home, who are based in Wellington, have achieved more competition success.

The band have fought their way through to the final of the fifth Glastonbury FM Songwriting Final for the Ben Kench Trophy. They will be competing for slots at events such as the Godney Gathering, Sat in a Field Festival, Glastonbury Calling and Music Expo. The competition takes place at the Red Brick Building, Bocabar, Glastonbury, on Saturday (June 2).

Last year the band were finalists in the national Young Songwriters Song Academy Award competition and won Bridgwater Battle of the Bands.

Band frontman Tom Westlake said: “We’re really excited to make this final and honoured to be one of only eight acts chosen to perform. We’ll be playing the competition entry, which was our first single, Bring Sown the Storm, plus two other high-energy and explosive songs.”

Last One Home have been playing at venues and festivals across the South-West while building a reputation as one of the best and most exciting young rock groups around. This year has seen a step change in the number of show bookings and venues they have been asked to play. Since January, the band have entertained audiences in towns and cities including, Bristol, Bath, Plymouth, Cheltenham, Torquay, Weston-super-Mare and Glastonbury.

The band say public interest in them is rising rapidly and they have been interviewed live on two radio stations and a vlog in the past six weeks.

Bassist Harry Lowndes said: “We have lots of things happening at the moment and it’s great to be really busy. People who follow us on social media will know that we’ve just shot our first video to accompany the release of our next single.

“We had a fast response to our request for extras to appear in the video and we had a great couple of days shooting around Somerset. We even got lucky with the weather. The single and video will be released in June.”

Drummer Phil Horler said: “We have a fantastic summer ahead and shows are being added all the time. If anyone would like to know what we are up to, or where they can see us playing live, they should check out our Last One Home official sites on Facebook and Instagram, and our website www.lastonehome.co.uk
