LAW firm AmicusLaw Solicitors has moved into the old HSBC bank building on the corner of Fore Street and South Street in Wellington.
The full service law firm had an office at Rumwell Hall, near Taunton, until the move.
Managing partner Stephen Forsey said: “We have a lot of clients from Wellington and the surrounding area, and we are really pleased to be finally moving into Wellington itself.
“We hope to contribute fully to the vibrant and developing town by offering our personal and friendly approach to providing legal services.
“We are particularly pleased, working in partnership with Jason and Jamie at Hawkins Property Development, to bring an imposing and important building at the very heart of Wellington back to life.
“Together I think we have carried out a sympathetic restoration of this lovely building and I know that we are going to enjoy working in the centre of the town.”
AmicusLaw has offices at junction 24 at Bridgwater and in the centres of Exeter, Minehead, Yeovil and Martock.
Stephen added: “We offer all the services that you expect from a modern legal firm today, including conveyancing, wills and probate, civil litigation and matrimonial advice. We also have a criminal department, which is more unusual.”
Clare Lovett, who is head of conveyancing for AmicusLaw, said: “Wellington is a dynamic local community.
“Peter Watkin, the resident conveyancer at the Wellington office, has more than 40 years’ experience of buying and selling property locally, and knows the local area really well.
“He is ably assisted by Marilyn Darby, who like Peter has many years of experience in local property work.”
Wills and probate work is the responsibility of local lawyer Alex Parris.
The senior partner of AmicusLaw is David Satchell, who is also head of the private client department. He said: “Although the Wellington office is relatively small, Alex, like all of the staff at our Wellington office, can call on the help and support of all of the firm across all six offices.”
AmicusLaw also has a strong local presence in contentious work such as in civil claims and disputes.
Solicitor Daniel Stevens lives in Taunton and is a civil litigation expert also based at the Wellington office, and Jo Richards is a matrimonial specialist, who will be available for consultation at the Wellington office.
AmicusLaw is open 9-5pm every weekday, although meetings can always be arranged outside of these hours if necessary.
The Wellington office has a couple of private rooms for meetings but AmicusLaw is happy to attend clients at their place of work or home, if that is more convenient.
The main office telephone number is 01823 755800 and email is [email protected]
