ORGANISERS of this year’s Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in Wellington say collections will run from Saturday, October 26, to Saturday, November 9.

Manned stalls will be in the town’s Asda and Co-op supermarkets during the fortnight, say appeal organisers Angie Filler and Linda Trickey, with house-to-house and street collections taking place over the same period.

The appeal will also be running at the pop-up shop next door to Perry’s hardware shop from Monday, October 28, to Saturday, November 9.

Poppy collectors can pick up boxes and poppies from the Scout Hall next to the Co-op in Fore Street, Wellington, on Wednesday, October 23, between 10am-1pm or on Thursday, October 24, between noon-3pm.

Collecting tins and boxes can be returned to the Scout Hall on Tuesday, November 12, between 2-4pm and on Wednesday, November 13, between 10am-1pm.

A Field of Remembrance outside Wellington Baptist Church in South Street will be dedicated on Sunday, November 3, at 11.45am. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The service of remembrance is at Wellington Park on Sunday, November 10, at 3.15pm, the parade leaving from Wellington School at 2.45pm.

A two-minute silence will be observed in Wellington town centre at 11am on Monday, November 11.
