STAFF at Wellington Library have been hoping to set up a Lego group for junior school age children since the success of the Lego Day held during the Summer Reading Challenge in the school summer holidays.
Following an article in the WWN, which highlighted the search for a leader, this has moved nearer to starting in the New Year.
“We are pleased to say that a prospective leader has come forward,” said a spokesman for the Library Friends Group, which has been helping the staff in their search.
“However, they would be happy to have further volunteers to help, so anyone interested should initially talk to the library staff.”
The library has been given several supplies of Lego in recent months. The latest group to help has been Co-operative Funeralcare of Bulford. It not only donated several Lego sets but also provided large plastic storage boxes to keep all the Lego in.
“The staff will be very grateful for the boxes,” said the Friends spokesman. “It will make storage much tidier and safer. I think most parents know what pains stray pieces of Lego can cause when trodden on.”
For interested children the advice is to look out for further information in the New Year. This will be in the library, on the library Facebook page and in the WWN.
