THOUSANDS of people across our area had reasons to party this weekend, with Royal Wedding and May Day celebrations galore.

Hundreds thronged Wellington Park on Monday for the town's tenth May Day celebration.

The May Day celebration is the premier event at which youth, church and all-age groups can take part to raise funds and advertise themselves.

Among youth groups taking part were local Scouts and Guides, Army cadets, St John Ambulance, Wellington Arts Association and a number of charities.

Wellington Majorettes put on their show as the fete opened.
